Armstrong Whitworth

Formed in 1897 by the merger of Armstrong Mitchell with Joseph Whitworth. Following the merged with Vickers in 1927, became the Walker Naval Yard of Vickers-Armstong. Passed to Swan Hunter Shipbuilders in 1968 and nationalised as part of British Shipbuilders in 1977. Shipbuilding ceased in 1983.
