Scotts Shipbuilding Co.

Founded at Greenock in 1711, subsequently also operating yards at Cartsburn and Cartsdyke. Merged with Lithgows in 1967 to form Scott Lithgow. Nationalised as part of the state owned British Shipbuilders in 1977 but returned to private ownership in 1983 and sold to Trafalgar House. Cartsdyke Shipyard was closed in 1979 and Cartsburn in 1984 and the company as a whole ceased to trade in 1993.
