Founded in Poplar as Yarrow & Company in 1865. Relocated to Scotstoun between 1906 and 1908. Merged with other upper Clyde yards in 1968 to form Upper Clyde Shipbuilders but left the group before it collapsed in 1971. Nationalised as part of British Shipbuilders in 1977. Privatised in 1985 becoming part of GEC-Marconi. Renamed Marconi Marine briefly in 1999 and then BAE Systems Surface Ships in 2000.
