VEB Warnowwerft

Warnemünde, Germany

Founded in Warnemünde in 1948. Following German reunification, the yard was briefly merged with Neptun Werft as Neptun-Warnow-Werft before being taken over by Kværner in 1992 and renamed Kværner Warnow Werft and then by the Aker Group in 1998 and renamed Aker Warnow Werft, operating with Aker MTW Werft at Wismar as Aker Yards Ostsee. Both yards purchased in 2008 by a private equity group to form Wadan Yards which subsequently filed for bankruptcy. The group was sold by creditors in 2009 and reopened as Nordic Yards, which was taken over by Genting Hong Kong in 2016 and renamed MW Werften. In 2022 MW Werften filed for insolvency and the yard was sold to the German Navy.
